Victorian Cost Data Collection (VCDC)

The Victorian Cost Data Collection (VCDC) is a new dataset and reflects level of service and resource use of patient episodes in health services.
The VCDC is used to:

  • inform the setting of Victorian and National cost weights,
  • inform development of funding models and budget proposals,
  • analysis of the cost of health care,
  • benchmarking,
  • best practice quality improvement initiatives

All Victorian metropolitan and major rural health services are required to submit annual patient level cost data to the VCDC.

The VCDC Files Specification for Reporting of 2010-11 Cost Data outlines the format and content required from health services and vendors to comply with when reporting 2010-11 cost data to the department.
