Victorian ICD Coding Committee (VICC) Queries DatabaseThe VICC database supports the clinical coding function performed in Victoria by Health Information Managers and Clinical Coders, by providing access to submitted queries and their responses. The database replaces the ICD Coding Newsletter, which ceased production from 2nd quarter 2006-07. The advice produced in this database should be adopted immediately unless an alternative introduction date is stated. Unless otherwise stated, there is no expectation that coders should review similar episodes already coded. It is acknowledged that this might result in a year’s data containing episodes coded in a non-standard way. This database contains resolved queries dated from July 2004 to the current time. As advice from previous editions may become superseded or be incorporated into the classification, queries resolved prior to Fifth Edition have been retired. Retired queries are still contained in the database for coders to reference and are identified by a retired date. However the advice in these queries is not considered to be current for audit purposes. Coders must submit a new query to VICC if they consider the advice in a retired query to be still current or to be in need of updating.
