Health Information Workforce Strategic Framework

The purpose of the Health Information Workforce Strategic Framework document is to:

  • Describe the health information workforce current state and future requirements
  • Outline the strategic framework for the future health information workforce in Victoria in light of a number of external drivers (such as implications of national health reform) and internal health service drivers (such as the changing requirements from the health information workforce to serve business objectives)
  • Recommend actions to support and enable the health information workforce to meet the challenges arising from these drivers of change.

It draws on a number of reports and surveys which have identified vacancies and shortfalls in critical health information workforce roles, including Health Information Managers (HIMs) and Clinical Coders (CCs).
