Victorian Health Information Workforce Industry Advisory GroupVictoria has undertaken to develop a Health Information Workforce Strategy to address current health information workforce (HIW) shortages, and to mitigate the impact of future national reform on the HIW, including:
Background to the Industry Advisory Group The strategic objectives of the Health Information Workforce Strategy were to develop a Workforce Development Strategy (Phase One) and an Implementation Action Plan (Phase Two) to address the current workforce shortages, and to mitigate the impact of future national reform on the HIW. The Health Information Workforce Strategic Framework was developed by the Health Information Workforce Working Group (HIWWG) in 2010, and was endorsed by the Department of Health in 2011. A key recommendation of the Strategic Framework was to establish an Industry Advisory Group (IAG), to ensure that the government and industry are kept abreast of emerging issues in relation to the health information workforce. The public and private hospital representatives, and the government representatives that form the IAG will provide appropriate advice and guidance to the Department of Health on the Phase Two implementation of the Strategic Framework's recommended actions.
