DHS Information Management Reforms
A number of significant information management reform activities have been completed within DHS as part of the Information Management Strategy:
- The DHS IM Strategy Common and Reference Data Dictionary (CRDD) Project, a cross-divisional initiative to drive and support common data terminology and practice across DHS.
- A single register of all DHS data collection and reporting requirements of funded / external organisations has been developed– the DHS Data Collection Register (DCR). To date in excess of 270 data collections have been investigated and recorded – this is the first time such a resource has been available to the department
- A snapshot of current metadata (data elements, value domains and code sets) associated with DHS data collection and reporting requirements of funded organisations has been developed– the DHS Metadata Repository (MDR).
- The seven DHS principles of information management have been incorporated into business practice. Executive Directors have established internal business rules which require approval via a data collection review process, for all proposed, new, existing, amended and ad hoc data collection and reporting requirements of funded/external organisations.
