Support for State Conferences or Symposiums

The Home and Community Care (HACC) Program has a limited pool of funds to support conferences and symposiums with a statewide focus. Events should have an educational emphasis and promote HACC activities. There will be two opportunities within a financial year for organisations to seek support.

Background

The HACC Program is a joint initiative of the Commonwealth and State Governments. The HACC Program provides support in home and community-based settings to frail aged people and younger people with disabilities and their carers.

The HACC Program funds activities such as assessment, nursing, allied health, social support, respite and domestic assistance.

What is support available for?

Support is available to organisations promoting/showcasing HACC activities and increasing awareness of the program. Events can be funded for a maximum of $10,000. The overall budget allocated to support statewide events is $40,000 per annum. It is subject to availability of funds in the financial year and the nature of the proposal. For Regional events, please contact your local Department of Health regional office - http://www.health.vic.gov.au/regions/

Recognition of the Program’s contribution

The organisation will need to provide due recognition of support by clearly acknowledging contribution by the HACC Program. Please contact Christine Adams for further details on (03) 9096 9977.

Event

The organisation should provide a letter requesting support that identifies the objective and details of the event including:

conference/forum name, description of focus and program, venue, dates, times, speakers, number of participants, target audience, etc.

Closing date

The closing dates for requests for conference and symposium support are 30 July and 30 December. Requests can be submitted at anytime in the financial year. Refer to contact details below.

Notification

Organisations will be formally notified of the outcome for support twice a year, in the first week of September and February.

Accountability

An organisation seeking conference support must provide an evaluation report that documents whether the objectives of the event were met, the number of participants that attended the event, feedback from participants and a statement of income and expenditure within a month of the event.
