Page contents: Summary | Download document

Summary

This pilot project arose from the recommendations of the HACC New Entrant Development Project Report (2003). The objectives of the pilot project were to:

  1. Develop a recruitment, selection and training resource kit that would assist HACC organisations to maximise the outcomes of their recruitment and selection efforts. This kit applies to all Community Care Workers.
  2. Pilot recruitment strategies that would increase the number of men working as Community Care Workers.
  3. Pilot recruitment strategies to encourage young people who are aged 18 years and over to take up community care traineeships.

Six HACC service providers piloted (b) and (c) at the same time as the kit was developed. The project was conducted during 2005 and 2006 and a seminar was held on 6 March 2007. The Project Summary Report appears below and is also included in the Home and Community Care (HACC) Community Care Worker Human Resources Kit 2007 which is available on this website. A case study of each of the six service provider pilots is also included in the Kit.
