Research ReportsPage content: A Profile of Victorian Seniors from Refugee Backgrounds | Cultural Diversity, ageing and HACC | CEGS Regional Data Summary Report (2004) As part of the HACC Culturally Equitable Gateways Strategy, the Department of Human Services has commissioned a number of studies that will assist to inform the way aged and community care services are delivered to Victorian CALD communities into the future. Findings from these reports highlight the need for the HACC sector to continue to work in partnership, though strategies such as CEGS, to meet the needs of CALD communities over the coming years. A Profile of Victorian Seniors from Refugee Backgrounds - Health and wellbeing needs and access to aged care health support servicesThe Profile of Victorian Seniors from Refugee Backgrounds research project, undertaken by the Refugee Health Research Centre for DHS as part of the CEG Strategy, aims to scope the health and wellbeing needs of Victorian Seniors from refugee backgrounds, and review issues relating to access to community health and support services. The focus of the project is on smaller, more recently arrived communities which are considered the most vulnerable and for whom there is the least amount of inforsmation. This report is located on the Refugee Health Research Centre, LaTrobe University website. Cultural Diversity, ageing and HACC: trends in Victoria in the next 15 yearsThe Cultural Diversity, ageing and HACC: trends in Victoria in the next 15 years report provides population projections for the 20 largest culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in Victoria over the next 15 years and outlines the trends that can be expected into the future. Findings from the research indicate impending and sustained growth of the Victorian CALD population, and that variations in size, proportion and characteristics of the present and future CALD population, indicate a need for the on-going development of a range of strategies in delivering culturally responsive services. This data identifies the uptake of core HACC services by CALD consumers at CEGS funded Local Governments across the Northern and Western (including Geelong), and Southern and Eastern Regions.
