Genetic Services Advisory CommitteeThe Genetic Services Advisory Committee (GSAC) was established in 2006 to provide strategic advice, in the context of relevant national and state strategies and developments, to the Department of Human Services (DHS) on priorities, service planning and development; performance monitoring, standards of practice and care; and to respond to specific requests for advice from DHS/Minister for Health. Governance of the genetics program within DHS changed in 2008 to better align service operation with broader public health care provision. As a result, the work of GSAC has been halted, pending finalisation of a review on consultative arrangements. In the interim, consultation with key stakeholders occurs through the use of time-limited, task-specific groups, issue-specific meetings and regular discussions with service providers.
