Food safety: training, skills & knowledge
Who is responsible for food safety in your food business?
Everyone who works in your food business is responsible for ensuring that the food they sell or prepare for sale is safe for human consumption.
Victorian food laws also require businesses to comply with the Food Standards Code. The Code is a collection of individual food standards jointly developed by Australia and New Zealand. It is a criminal offence in Australia to supply food that does not comply with relevant food standards.
It is also an offence to sell food which is damaged, has deteriorated or perished, which is adulterated, or which is unfit for human consumption.
