Consumer Awareness and Knowledge Tracking StudyIn order to maintain an up to date understanding of consumer knowledge and attitudes to food safety, and to evaluate the effectiveness of communications activities, quantitative market research activities to monitor and track changes in consumer awareness, knowledge and behaviour was required for a 3 year period. In 2006, the Department of Human Services Food Safety Unit ratined NWC Research to ascertain and track consumer awareness and knowledge of safe food handling practices and of food safety messages. Three surveys will be done covering 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Consumer food safety confidence studyIn 2005 the Department of Human Services Food Safety Unit commissioned market research specialists Campbell Research and Consulting to undertake a study to identify levels of consumer confidence in the safety of the food they buy and eat, to see if there had been any changes in consumer confidence since 2002. The study was also to identify confidence levels of and attitudes to various food businesses and food types, and consumer knowledge of the food safety regulatory system. Consumer food safety point-of-sale information investigationMarketing and communications specialists Socom Pty Ltd in assocation with Roger James & Associates were commissioned by the Department of Human Services Food Safety Unit in 2005 to investigate options for the provision of consumer food safety information through point of sale outlets in retail food stores. Melbourne City Council consumers food safety educationEvaluation of a consumer information project conducted by the Melbourne City Council in 2002 to increase consumer knowledge of food safety issues when buying food.
