The substances covered in the survey were: tobacco, alcohol, analgesics, sedatives, marijuana amphetamines, cocaine, narcotics, steroids, inhalants, ecstacy and hallucinogens. The data reported here was collected from a survey of 4,729 secondary students in Government, Catholic and Independent schools at year levels of 7 to 12 and was collected as part of the 1996 Australian School Students' Alcohol and Drugs (ASSAD) Survey. Victorian school students & drug use 1996 - Supplementary survey reportAbout the reportThis report contains the findings of a supplementary survey conducted as part of the 1996 Victorian School Students and Drug Use report. The supplementary survey included questions relating to students access to alcohol and cigarettes and the extent to which they believed the use of licit and illicit drugs was dangerous. It also looked at these beliefs and issues in relation to the students ethnicity, issues of supervision, interpersonal relationships and the level of support available to students associated with substance use.
