Heroin overdose prevention campaign - using alone

Using alone posterThe heroin overdose prevention initiative is a collaborative project between the Department of Human Services and key players in the management of injecting drug use issues, including VIVAIDS, Metropolitan Ambulance Service, Turning Point and many Needle and Syringe Programs.

The ‘Using Alone’ message is the second in a suite of resources, which include posters, stickers and wallet cards that are being distributed through all NSPs and alcohol and drug services over a period of five months. We hope that you will actively use the resources to increase your clients’ knowledge of overdose issues, and encourage them to embrace safer injecting practices.

In early 2006, we will send out a survey that will form part of an evaluation. We are hopeful you will provide feedback, on the resources themselves, and on the response of users to the materials and the issues they raise. This will assist us in informing future campaigns of this nature.

Many thanks for the tireless work you do to help make injecting drugs safer for those who chose to inject. Your efforts help save the lives of many people.
