Heroin overdose prevention campaign - tolerance
The messages were developed with the sector and users to communicate the key risk factors around heroin overdose. It is important to equip users and health professionals who work with injecting drug users with information and strategies to help reduce the risks and incidence of heroin overdose. Over the next six months a suite of five posters, stickers and wallet cards will be distributed through all NSPs and alcohol and drug services. We hope that you will actively use the resources to increase your clients’ knowledge of overdose issues, and encourage them to embrace safer injecting practices. The kit of materials also contains a form you can use to request more resources. In early 2006, we will send out a survey that will form part of an evaluation. We are hopeful that you will provide feedback, on the resources themselves, and on the response of users to the materials and the issues they raise. This will assist us in informing future campaigns of this nature. Many thanks for the tireless work you do to help make injecting drugs safer for those who chose to inject. Your efforts help save the lives of many people each year.
