Heroin overdose prevention campaign - purity

Not all gear is the same posterThe heroin overdose prevention initiative is a collaborative project involving the Department of Human Services, as well as key players in the management of issues around injecting drug use, including VIVAIDS, Turning Point, many Needle and Syringe Programs and other stakeholders.

The key messages were developed with the sector and users to communicate the key risk factors around heroin overdose. It is important to equip users and health professionals that work with injecting drug users with information and strategies to help reduce the risks and number of overdose deaths.

This is the fourth key message in a suite of materials comprising posters, stickers and wallet cards that have been distributed through NSPs and alcohol and drug services. We hope you will continue tointroduce the resources to clients, to increase their knowledge of overdose issues and encourage them to embrace safer injecting practices.

Our thanks again for supporting this campaign and for all the work you do to reduce the risks associated with injecting drug use.
