Divisions

Three divisions share the department's responsibilities for developing strategic priorities, implementing policy, and funding and monitoring service delivery, in the areas of health, mental health and aged care.

Metropolitan Health and Aged Care Services Division
The Metropolitan Health and Aged Care Services Division is responsible for the full range of health and aged care services in metropolitan Melbourne.
The division funds and monitors the performance of all metropolitan-based public hospitals, and has statewide policy, funding and program responsibility for public hospitals and ambulance services.

Rural and Regional Health and Aged Care Services Division
The Rural and Regional Health and Aged Care Services Division develops and implements policy and funding for monitoring service delivery across the full range of health and aged care services for people in rural and regional Victoria.
The division has statewide policy and program responsibility for:- aged care
- primary and community health
- dental health
- public health.
Mental Health and Drugs Division
The Mental Health and Drugs Division supports the mental health and wellbeing of the Victorian community through education, prevention and early intervention strategies.
The division provides services including community support programs, treatment and rehabilitation services and residential services
