Australia's First Cross-Border Health Service
Victoria's newest health service and Australia's first cross-border health service will greatly benefit Northern Victorian families and communities, Health Minister Daniel Andrews said today.
The new integrated health service in Albury Wodonga has more than 1,500 staff, over 260 beds and a combined Victorian and New South Wales government budget of around $130 million.
The establishment of Albury Wodonga Health has been a complex process and required an enormous amount of hard work. The staff at both Albury and Wodonga have continued to provide outstanding health care to the community while working through all the issues associated with such a significant change.
It is hoped that the integration will ensure all residents in the Albury Wodonga area have access to the vital health services they need. Mr Andrews said the service would involve an ongoing collaboration between the Victorian and New South Wales Governments with input from health agencies, organisations and the community.
