The Aboriginal Health Branch (AHB) responds to the distinctive health needs of Aboriginal Victorians and State government commitments to close the gap. The Aboriginal Health Branch aims to have a significant and measurable impact on improving the length and quality of Aboriginal Victorians lives by making Aboriginal health everyone's business.

The Department acknowledges the importance of working together with Victoria’s Aboriginal community. The Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) is the peak Aboriginal health organisation in Victoria and is the Aboriginal Health Branch’s key stakeholder. The Department works closely with VACCHO in the development and implementation of policies, programs and strategies that are aimed to improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people in Victoria.
