ICU Nurse Liaison Forum 24 Oct 2008The intensive care unit liaison nurse role is a strategy designed with potential to improve patient care and reduce both admissions and readmissions to an intensive care unit (ICU). Aspects of this role include facilitation of patients discharged from ICU, support for and management of acutely ill patients on the ward and the provision of education and resources for ward staff. To understand the challenges and successes of this model of care, in October 2008 the department held a state wide forum for ICU nurse unit managers and ICU liaison nurses to share their experiences and learn from their colleagues.
