Overview

Community and Women’s Health Agencies receive funding from DHS for a range of programs. Health promotion is one of the activities performed within each of the following programs:

  • Community Health
  • Women’s Health
  • Family Planning
  • Innovative Health Services for Homeless Youth
  • Family and Reproductive Rights Education Program (FARREP)
  • Suicide Prevention

The following specialist state-wide agencies also receive health promotion funding through Community and Women's Health Programs:

  • Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture Inc;
  • International Diabetes Institute;
  • Centre for Adolescent Health; and
  • Centre for Culture, Ethnicity and Health

The above statewide agencies provide a mix of primary health and health promotion services relevant to their particular contexts.

Health promotion reporting and planning

Statewide Agencies and Community and Women's Health (C&WH) Agencies report health promotion activities to DHS. DHS provides some flexibility in the reporting and planning of health promotion activities; therefore each agency may vary in its methodology.

The Community and Women’s Health Integrated Health Promotion Planning and Reporting Guidelines 2006-2009 are below. Each region may vary in its application of these planning and reporting guidelines. Please contact your Regional Health Promotion Advisor (RHPA) or Local Program Service Advisor (PASA) for the (reporting and planning) template and due dates for your agency.
