Prevention item numbersPage contents: Overview | Download OverviewThe Medicare Benefits Schedule funds services that help prevent the onset of chronic and vaccine-preventable diseases. Medicare business rules stipulate that these services must be coordinated by the patient’s usual GP in order for the item to be claimable, though much of the work can be delegated to an appropriately trained practice nurse or Aboriginal Health Worker and may involve the broader community health sector in a partnership approach to care. Many practice nurses are already assisting in or leading the coordination of targeted preventive services in Victorian general practice. Note that only certain types of patient are eligible for MBS-rebateable preventive services Download |
