Introduction

The Primary Health Branch, DHS have been conducting a project over the last two years on Demand Management in Community Health Services (CHSs). The broad aims of this project are:

  • to improve the ability of CHSs to meet the growing demand of consumers
  • to improve consistency in the practices for managing demand across CHSs in Victoria
  • to support high quality evidenced based practice

This document is designed to provide CHSs a consistent approach to managing demand that enables equity of access, accurate waiting time measurement and benchmarking. It has been developed in consultation with CHSs and consumers.
