How to register

This website provides access to medical literature including a range of citation databases, full text journals, and point-of-care resources, such as drug and prescribing information, e-textbooks and systematic reviews.

Access is provided either through:

  • direct access for institutions through IP address validation (click on link near the password boxes to see if your institution is linked) or
  • through passwords supplied to eligible users.

Are you eligible for access?

To gain access, you must be a Victorian health professional associated with a Department of Human Services (DHS) funded agency. This includes hospitals, health services, or community health centres funded by DHS.

How to get access

Either:

Before giving you access, we'll need to establish that you work for a (DHS) funded agency. This is most easily done by sending us an email from your workplace.

The Victorian Mental Health Library is managed by The Royal Melbourne Hospital Library and the collection resources are located within the RMH library collection on the 3rd Floor, Charles Connibere Building, Grattan Street, Parkville.

Library membership is available to the Victorian Mental Health Library for staff employed in agencies funded by the Department of Human Services Mental Health Branch and Department of Human Services employees working on mental health projects.

Eligible staff can thereby access a further collection of full text electronic journals specific to psychiatry, psychology, nursing and community mental health. Online textbooks are also available, including DSM- IV.

Usage Policy

Use of the Clinicians Health Channel Site

By entering our site, users of the Clinicians Health Channel agree to the following terms and conditions. The Clinicians Health Channel exists to support clinicians by providing access to the best possible knowledge available. Users must only use the site for lawful purposes, and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, or restrict or inhibit the use of the site by any third party.

Users must not:
  • Attempt to impair the running of the site or corrupt its content
  • Attempt to download more information than is allowed by Copyright laws
If a user breaches this usage policy, the Clinicians Health Channel will:
  • De-register such users
  • Report them to their host organisation's IT department

This Website receives no support through advertising or sponsorship, and will not accept any commercial advertising.

It is not the function of the Clinicians Health Channel to substitute for the role of the clinician, but to support the clinician in enabling access to know-how and knowledge. The know-how and knowledge available on the Clinicians Health Channel site needs to be applied by the clinician to make a diagnosis and propose treatment.
Members of the public are therefore urged to consult with a health professional for answers to any health-related questions.

The information provided by the Clinicians Health Channel is intended to support health care decisions. The Clinicians Health Channel will endeavour to ensure that the content on the site is the best current knowledge, in order to keep the clinician as well-informed as possible. Responsibility for applying the knowledge and know-how however rests with the clinician.

Archiving

The Clinicians Health Channel aims to provide access to the most up-to-date knowledge and know-how. In doing so, it will update information held on its site frequently. Information that is replaced is kept in an archive for a period of 25 years. This does not apply to our licensed content, which is updated regularly by the providers of these databases who will keep appropriate archives.

Privacy

We respect and are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy lets you know how any personal information is processed and used by the Clinicians Health Channel.

  1. We do not monitor individual usage of the library. Cookies and session IDs may be issued but these do not contain personal information.
  2. We collect site usage statistics from our server logs. This data helps us to manage and plan services, and will be used as part of the evaluation of the Clinicians Health Channel web site. Site usage statistics contain no personal information.
  3. If you send us an enquiry you may include personal information. Personal data is used only to enable us to contact you, and is not used for any other purpose.
