2011 cleaning standards
The Victorian Cleaning Standards were first published in 2000 and were reviewed and updated in 2005, 2009 and again in late 2010 and published in 2011.
The 2010 changes were limited to correcting inconsistent terminology and the provision of information in areas where the content was seen as ambiguous. Consideration was also given to stakeholder comment resulting in the number of external audits being reviewed.Since July 2010 public hospitals have been required to report to the department the results of three audits each financial year. All audits are to be undertaken by a qualified Victorian cleaning standards auditor (QVCSA); that is, a person who has successfully completed the Victorian cleaning standards auditors' course.
The aim has been to provide:
- Clarity for cleaners, supervisors and managers
- Outcome statements that can be used as performance indictors
- Risk categories to assist risk management
- An effective aid to cleaning contract management.
The Health facility cross-reference chart on p35 of the attached Cleaning standards for Victorian health facilities 2011 has been amended. An updated version of the cross-reference chart is attached below. The changes are highlighted in the chart.
