Victorian Forensic Paediatric Medical Service

VFPMS is a specialised paediatric medical service providing 24-hour forensic clinical examinations and assessments for children under the age of 18 where there is suspected child abuse.

VFPMS provides the following services:
  • evaluation of injury
  • specialist expertise for sexual abuse
  • holistic health and developmental assessments for children with complex needs
  • integrated health care providing coordinated referral and follow up care
  • comprehensive reports and participation in legal proceedings
  • state-wide advice and consultation 24/7.

VFPMS provides services to children who are referred from either Department of Human Services Child Protection, Victoria Police or health professionals.

The service is free and can be accessed at Royal Children's Hospital, Monash Medical Centre or via your local regional health service.
