New record-keeping requirementsFrom 1 July 2005, new record keeping obligations apply to all cemetery trusts. The new record keeping requirements are set out in regulation 5 of the Cemeteries and Crematoria Regulations 2005 (Cemetery trust records – prescribed information). The department has prepared a summary of key information about the new record-keeping requirements to assist trusts to understand and comply with the new record keeping requirements.
The department will provide new hard copy registers free of charge to those trusts who require them. As discussed during the training sessions the department delivered to trusts during April and May 2005, the registers are required to be specially bound and represent a non-standard printing job and therefore they will not be available until the end of August 2005. To enable you to comply with your new record keeping obligations in the intervening period (ie from 1 July 2005 to the end of August 2005) the department has prepared and sent you pro-forma pages for:

Trusts with cremators will also need to keep information about cremations as specified in regulation 5 Cemetery trust records – prescribed information. Alternatively you can use your own hard copy register or record the information in electronic format, provided these comply with the record keeping requirements set out in regulation 5 Cemetery trust records – prescribed information.
