Information for HREC membersPage contents: Single review of multi-site research The Consultative Council for Human Research Ethics, has amongst its functions, the task of promoting best practice ethical review of multi-site human research. This will be achieved through a number of ways and will include communicating with authorities such as the Health Services Commissioner and to provide information and professional development. During 2009 the Consultative Council has received advice from the Victorian Health Services Commissioner regarding the issue of ethical review of low risk research, where there is no consent provided by the individual. A document from the Health Services Commissioner is attached that gives some guidance.
Single review of multi-site researchInformation Sheets will be provided, from time to time, for reviewing HREC members on ethical review in the streamlined system. The approach to ethical review will be impacted by the separation of ethical review from research governance in a number of ways. The Information Sheets will address this and other issues that arise, so that inconsistencies in the review process can be overcome. The first ‘Information Sheet’ provides advice for reviewing HREC members using the National Ethics Application Form and highlights the considerations that are required for multi-site research. |
