Strengthening Support for Women with Breast Cancer (1999 - 2003)Welcome to the SSWBC Victoria Web SiteThe Strengthening Support for Women with Breast Cancer (SSWBC) Program was an initiative of the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing. Women diagnosed with breast cancer and living in rural and remote areas face special barriers in accessing treatment options and support services. This initiative will enable women diagnosed with breast cancer to receive supportive care and information on treatment, management and quality of life issues in their local area. This website provides an overview of the implementation of the SSWBC Program in Victoria as managed by BreastCare Victoria, Deparment of Human Services. In recognition of the achievements of the SSWBC initiaitve, the Australian Government have funded a subsequent program called Supporting Women in Rural Areas Diagnosed with Breast Cancer (2004 - 2007). This program is managed by Cancer and Palliative Care Section, (external link) Department of Human Services. |
