Advanced Breast Cancer
Advanced breast cancer includes both locally advanced and
metastatic breast cancer. The prognosis for women with advanced
breast cancer can be very variable and may depend on the type
of breast cancer, the time from initial diagnosis of early
breast cancer and recurrence, and the site of the recurrence.
Typically breast cancer has a longer history than many other
common cancers. Even in the presence of significant metastases,
it may take the form of a chronic illness, with some women
living several years.
Advanced Breast Cancer Forum: Using the Evidence to Find
the Way Forward
The Advanced Breast
Cancer Forum aimed to highlight the issues affecting people
with advanced breast cancer, and to commence discussion
about how best to respond to identified needs. The Forum
was held on Friday, 24th October 2003, at the Park Hyatt,
Melbourne.
