Evaluation and Learning Series

A formal evaluation of the Breast Services Enhancement Program was completed in 2005 and the reports are now available on this website under 'Resources and Publications'.

The evaluation led to the development of the learning series Learning from the past - informing the future. The learning series provides examples of the many experiences, key learnings, critical success factors and challenges of the Breast Services Enhancement Program, a major initiative of the Victorian Government's Breast Disease Services Redevelopment Strategy (1999-2003). The series identifies what worked well, what worked less well, what made the difference and what could be done differently next time.

The four booklets making up the learning series address the following topics:

Multidisciplinary care - improving consumer outcomes (PDF File 1.02MB) - September 2005

Continuity and coordination of care - improving the ‘cancer journey (PDF File 370KB) - September 2005

Supporting sustainable change (PDF File 363KB) - September 2005

Building partnerships with consumers for improved service delivery (PDF File 412 KB) - September 2005

Each resource in the learning series draws on literature, evidence from the statewide evaluation of the Breast Services Enhancement Program, individual evaluation reports and interviews with key stakeholders. While each resource stands alone, links are made with other documents in the series along with other useful references, resources and tools.

It is hoped that the experiences and learnings from the Breast Services Enhancement Program may assist anyone involved in service redevelopment and quality improvement initiatives to improve clinical outcomes and the consumer experience.
