Blood Matters Program

The Blood Matters Program is a Victorian state government program for improving the quality and safety of hospital transfusion care to patients.

Transfusion data collection tool

Blood Matters has collected resources from Victorian Transfusion Nurses and Trainers and developed a data collection template. This template is a resource tool and may assist you to collect transfusion data and graphically present the results for your hospital. We have recently updated these templates to reflect feedback from users. Information regarding the impact of these changes to the templates is on the Transfusion data collection tool page.

We are pleased to release the third STIR report. A copy of the report has been forwarded to all Victorian Hospitals that are involved in transfusion.

Audit of consent for blood transfusion 2012

Data collection for this audit has now ceased. Interim reports to participating hospitals will be forwarded when available. A final report of this audit is expected to be published by June 2013. Please contact us if you require any further information.

Blood Matters celebrating 10 years

Blood Matters program celebrated its 10 year anniversary at the Australian Red Cross Blood Service Melbourne Processing centre on 25 June. Presentations by colleagues of Blood Matters displayed the program in practice and showcased achievements.
