Archived August 20 2008 - may contain information of historical interest (some links may not work)GP/Hospital Integration Project - GP RegisterGeneral Practice Register The General Practitioner Register (GPR) was an initiative of General Practice Divisions Victoria (GPDV), funded by the Victorian Department of Human Services and the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing. The GPR is a centralised repository of accurate information about general practitioners and their contact details at locations where they work. It was developed in response to a growing demand for accurate GP contact information for automated notifications and electronic discharge summaries. HistoryThe GPR was developed as part of the GP/Hospital Integration Project, intended to improve communication between hospitals and General Practitioners (GPs) relating to the admission and discharge of patients Development of the GPR followed two main preliminary projects:
The GPR is accessible only to registered Victorian hospitals and divisions of general practice via the GPDV web site (www.gpdv.com.au). The GPR includes the following information about GPs:
Subscribers can use the web interface provided on the GPDV web site, or download a version of the database in CSV, Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access format for integration with existing hospital information systems. The GPR is updated and validated on an annual basis. Over the coming 12 months GPDV will be facilitating the transfer of information from the GPR to the newly implemented Statewide Services Directory.
