When
the new $21 million (including Commonwealth funding) Gippsland
cancer centre at Latrobe Regional Hospital opens in March 2006, cancer
patients living in Gippsland will no longer have to travel to Melbourne
for radiotherapy.
The
treatment centre, which will include radiation therapy, chemotherapy,
renal dialysis and specialist consulting suites, will ensure cancer
patients can stay closer to home and more importantly, closer to
their families throughout their treatment.
The Gippsland Cancer
Centre is one of many exciting and important health initiatives
happening in country Victoria.
