Seasonal Variation Project

A project to examine seasonal analysis of activity in Victorian public hospitals was commissioned by DHS earlier this year with the final report delivered in October 2000. The objective of the Seasonal Variation Project was to determine the seasonal pattern of activity in Victorian public hospitals and to identify the factors that could be used to predict variations in hospital inpatient levels. The analysis examined VAED data for the period 1994/95 to 1998/99. Subsequent analysis was completed on:

  • 1999/2000 VAED data
  • and analysis of daily census levels (including same-day patients which were excluded from the previous work)
