Technology Working PartyThere has been an explosion of new technology in the telemedicine arena in recent years. Among these developments are the use of telephone and email for the provision of advice to patients, the capacity to undertake consultations via video- link (for the purposes of both diagnosis and ongoing review), the use of computers to view and assess radiology films from a distance, the use of digital photography of skin lesions which can be emailed to a specialist for diagnosis, and the transfer of information from implanted cardioverter defribillators scanned by a patient down a phone line and accessed by a cardiologist. The HARP Technology Working Party will explore opportunities for advancing the use of technology to assist in disease management programs. In particular this Working Party will examine distance monitoring of patients with chronic and complex illnesses, focussing on the particular groups targeted by HARP (eg COPD and CCF). Report:
