Physical activity advice for older people & their carers

Page content: Introduction | Download document | Further information

Introduction

This information booklet provides older people using health and community services with advice about what they can do to be active, have better health and enjoy their independence more. The ideas in this booklet will be useful for older people as well as their families and carers.

The physical activities suggested in this booklet may not be suitable for every older person. You may find some activities too easy and some suggestions too difficult. If you have concerns about your ability to do any of the physical activities suggested in this booklet, seek further advice from your doctor or physiotherapist.

If you are a carer of an older person you can call the Commonwealth Carer Resource Centre on 1800 242 636 for general advice, information and referral.
