These are:
To support the policy framework, government program areas have developed action plans that acknowledge and address the important elements of care relationships. The purpose of Recognising and supporting care relationships for older Victorians Action Plan 2006–2009 is to improve recognition of, and support for, care relationships for older Victorians through policy and service development and delivery. This plan identifies actions to support care relationships for older people and their unpaid carers:
Charter supporting care relationshipsA Victorian charter supporting people in care relationships was launched on 23 June 2010. The charter acknowledges the role of carers in our society. It articulates the rights and responsibilities of people in care relationships, and how they can be supported by organisations, governments and the community. The charter also seeks to empower carers to access the services available to them and the person in their care, as well as providing practical assistance such as listing the supports and resources available to assist carers. Carers include foster, kinship and permanent carers, carers of a person with a disability, a severe or chronic medical condition, a mental illness, or someone who is frail, aged or in need of palliative care. The charter is accompanied by a promotional poster and five fact sheets for carers and organisations. Download documents
