Older people in Public HousingPage content: Overview | Download documents OverviewWell for Life in Public Housing is a further innovation of Well for Life and was rolled out in the North and West Metropolitan Region of the Department of Health in Melbourne over 2006-2007. The aim was to engage older people living in public housing to become more involved and active within their communities through participation in physical activity and improved nutrition. Overall eight projects were implemented in public housing sites, including four in Neighbourhood Renewal areas and three in public housing sites, including the older person’s high rise blocks in Footscray and Williamstown. The projects were a collaborative effort between the Department of Health and a range of organisations from other sectors and engaged 565 older residents in a variety of activities including cycling, tai chi, market visits, walking and eating, and fishing.
