Digital success stories

Through a partnership between Oxfam Australia, the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO), the Department of Health, and a number of health organisations across Victoria, three digital story-telling workshops were run for Victorian Aboriginal health workers. Participants learned how to use images, video and audio to create personal multimedia stories about their work.

The result? A series of inspiring, first-hand testimonies about how Aboriginal health workers are striving to close the Indigenous life expectancy gap.

This project was conducted as part of the Aboriginal Health Promotion and Chronic Care (AHPACC) program review in 2010/11. These stories were used to document success factors from the grassroots to share with others working in Aboriginal health.

We wish to thank all those who contributed at Oxfam Australia, VACCHO, the Department of Health and all the participating services.  Special thanks to Jock Peterson, Steve Portelli, Jacqueline Burns, Glenda Ross, Diane Aiello, Shyvonne Foggitt, Francine Riches, Virginia Stigler, Maria Musselwhite, Beryl Everett, Carly Ahearn, Helen Chapman, Penny Wagstaff and Bronwyn Fenn for sharing their stories with us and all the hard work they do with their communities.
